Everyone who comes in contact with young children should be informed about stuttering. Whether you are a parent, child care provider, Sunday School teacher, school teacher, etc., you should know about what you can do to make life easier for young children who are going through a phase of stuttering. You may help that child so he/she doesn't have to deal with a lifetime of stuttering.
Some parents are uninformed and think they know best because an "uncle stopped his child from stuttering by slapping him every time he stuttered." Sure, it may have "worked" for your uncle because his child just stopped talking! Or, at least he knew what sounds or words he stuttered on and substituted another way of saying what he needed to say so he didn't use a word he would stutter on.
Help everyone learn how to help children by pointing them in the right direction.
